[Comparison] The differences between the GoPro® HD HERO™ 960 and other HERO™ cameras

The GoPro 960: what does it have in common and what sets it apart from the rest of the GoPro HD HERO cameras (the GoPro® Helmet HERO™ Wide Camera, the GoPro® Motorsports HERO™ Wide Camera, the GoPro® HD Surf HERO™ Camera and the HD HERO Naked)?

The answer is rather simple and has to do with video quality and the rear camera’s expansion port:

  • Availavble in HD HERO 960 – the same professional grade 960p, 720p and 480p (WVGA) video & 5MP timelapse photo modes, and incredible sound recording system as its big brother, the original HD HERO camera.
  • Missing from the HD HERO 960 – (a) 720p @ 60fps, 1080p video, and (b) the HERO BUS expansion port in the rear of the camera. This port enables you to use the GoPro’s forthcoming BacPac accessories, including an LCD screen and an extra Battery Extension – both important features for filmmaking hobbyists & professional videographers that are compatible with the original HD HERO camera.
